Meet Dr. Alena Yurchuk
Dr. Alena Yurchuk is a general dentist with over 29 years of experience, providing comprehensive dental care with a strong focus on prevention, education, and modern technology. She is dedicated to helping patients achieve long-term oral health through personalized treatment planning and a thoughtful, patient-centered approach.
Dr. Yurchuk began her dental training at the Belarusian State Medical University, graduating in 1997. She gained early clinical experience, including service at the Belarusian Air Forces Dental Clinic, before completing a residency in restorative dentistry. She later joined the university as an Assistant Professor, contributing to both clinical training and research in Dental Public Health, with a focus on how lifestyle factors such as smoking impact oral health.
Her academic journey continued with a PhD focused on periodontal health in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. This strong foundation in research and education continues to shape her approach to science-based, preventive dental care.
After immigrating to Canada in 2010, Dr. Yurchuk completed her licensing at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Dentistry. During this time, she received multiple distinctions, including the Diploma with Distinction, the Irwin Fefergrad Award in Ethics and Jurisprudence, and the Dr. Boris Pulec Dental Implant Scholarship. Today, she practices at Blue Heron Dental Centre and is co-owner of Westmount Dental Office in London, Ontario.

She also offers care for gum disease, oral surgery procedures including extractions and grafting, and clear aligner orthodontics. Additional areas of focus include treatment for sleep apnea and bruxism using oral appliances, as well as preventive care, laser therapy, and patient education to support long-term oral health.

Outside the Clinic
Outside the clinic, Dr. Yurchuk enjoys spending time with her husband, Dr. Kabak, their three children, and their corgi, Jet. She enjoys cooking, sewing, painting, and travelling, which help her stay creative and balanced.
Originally from Belarus, she values strong family traditions and brings that same warmth and care into her relationships with patients. Her philosophy is simple: to combine modern dentistry with compassion and education to help every patient achieve a healthy, confident smile.
